Rustam Minnikhanov: Trade turnover between Tatarstan and India has been growing steadily in recent years

26.01.2026

On 26 during his working trip to Dubai the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with the President of the Indian Chamber of International Business (ICIB) Manpreet Singh Nagi.

The ICIB is a non-profit organization created to promote international trade and investment in the country and which serves as a business platform for exchanging and sharing ideas and cooperate in projects which facilitate economic growth of India.

Starting the meeting, Rustam Minnihanov said:” Relations between Russia and India are characterized by a special and privileged strategic partnership,” and informed that the General Consulate of India started its work in Kazan in the end of last year and there is a trade and economic representative of the republic in India.

Trade turnover between Tatarstan and India has been steadily growing in recent years and by the end of 2024 it reached 370m dollars US. At the same time, Rustam Minnikhanov believes that the ongoing work has little impact on investment cooperation – there are currently no joint investment projects between Tatarstan and India.

He briefly told about industrial and economic potential of the republic and about the international business forum “TIME: Russia-India. Mutual Efficiency” first held in Tatarstan last year.

In his turn Manpreet Singh Nagi thanked for the meeting and told that he took part in the forum and highly appreciated it. “We want business representatives to find common contacts,” he stated.

In the end of the meeting the parties agreed on the need to exchange delegations.
