Head of the Tatarstan Ministry of Agriculture: Today priority is to prepare agricultural machinery for field work in 2026

On 10 January, speaking at a meeting held by Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin in the Government House of the republic with all municipality regions taking part in it via videoconference, the regional Minister of Agriculture and Food Marat Zyabbarov informed that it is expected to achieve a comparable growth of produce of 1.5%, including that in food production - at least 2.6% in the agricultural sector.

Speaking about tasks for 2026, he said that under favorable weather conditions, agricultural enterprises and peasant farms are expected to harvest 4.3 million tonnes of grain, 2.3 million tonnes of sugar beets and 280 thousand tonnes of potatoes and vegetables. It is also planned to harvest no less than 1m tonnes of oilseeds and prepare 35 centners of feed units of roughage and succulent feed per conventional head of cattle.

The Minister also informed about various support measures envisaged from the republic and Russian Minister of Agriculture for the development of melioration.

Marat Zyabbarov reported that even though in 2025 farms purchased more than 2,200 units of equipment for 10 billion rubles, the pace of modernization is lagging behind the norm as it is necessary to replace no less than 10 per cent of machinery every year to maintain the technological capacity.

The Minister stated that today priority is to prepare agricultural machinery for field work in 2026 by March 15, which needs about 6.5bn rubles.

Marat Zyabbarov also reminded about target indicators for the region for milk production, livestock and poultry production, and eggs and about the importance of the active development of small farms, which play a key role in the industry and in ensuring the food security of the country.

Alongside with the support from the state, Tatarstan takes an active part in the state programme of the Comprehensive Development of Rural Territories, the Minister informed and added that in the current year the republic will continue implementation of the federal project “Agribusiness personnel”.
