Rustam Minnikhanov: Getting the certificate on Approval of the main change to the standard design of the Tu-214 is an important step for full-scale serial production

On 27 December the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, the Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov, the Minister of Transport of the country Andrey Nikitin, representatives of the manufacturers and suppliers of the aircraft new systems and other officials took part in a festive ceremony held at the Kazan Aircraft Plant after the Tu-214 plane has been issued the certificate of Approval of the main change to its standard design.

The decision was made by the Rosaviatsia following a positive conclusion from the Russian Aviation Register confirming the compliance of the new equipment, namely a modern domestic complex of onboard radio-electronic equipment and components, including advanced safety systems, to the stated requirements and the Head of the Federal Air Transport Agency Dmitry Yarov handed over the certificate to the Director of the Plant Zufar  Mirgalimov.

Speaking at the ceremony, Rustam Minnikhanov stated that the fact that the aircraft plant got the Certificate of Approval for a major change to the Tu-214 standard design is an important event. “This clearly confirms that all installed domestic equipment fully complies with the stated requirements of the import substitution program and opens up prospects for full-scale serial production of the Tu-214. We are grateful to the leadership of the country for systemic support of the aircraft branch,” he said.

In his turn, in his welcoming speech Anton Alikhanov said: “The Tu-214 in its new guise has become another step towards technological sovereignty in civil aviation, and we are not stopping there.”

“The approval of the import-substituting Tu-214 paves the way for serial production of the aircraft for delivery to domestic airlines. PJSC UAC plans to increase Tu-214 production to 20 units per year by the end of 2027, “Andrey Nikitin underlined.

The Director General of the United Aircraft Company Vadim Badekha thanked engineers, designers, test pilots, specialists from JSC Tupolev and cooperating enterprises for their dedicated service and said: “The Tu-214 is the first of a line of import-substituting civil aircraft to receive approval from our aviation authorities, but much work remains to be done on other aircraft in our civil line.”

After the ceremony its participants had a working meeting on issues of further development of the TU-214 production.
