Rustam Minnikhanov gives an errand to step up measures of antiterrorist security during New Year and Christmas holidays

On 27 December, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held with all municipalities via videoconference, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov stated that issues of ensuring safety of citizens come to the forefront during celebrations of the New Year and Christmas.

He gave an errand to step up measures of antiterrorist security during these holidays and emphasized the importance of close interaction of all power bodies and civil society structures. «No one should remain uninvolved,” he said.

“It is necessary to organize work so that the holidays are not overshadowed by negative events. Unfortunately, according to statistics, the number of fires increases during the New Year holidays compared to regular days and the risk of fires and injuries from pyrotechnic products becomes higher,” the Rais of the republic said and reminded about special fire safety regime introduced by the decree of the Government of Tatarstan.

Rustam Minnikhanov also informed that 151 Christmas tree New Year sites including 43 in Kazan have been organized in cities and regions of the republic and mass events of the Kurshe (Neighbor) festival are being held in parks and courtyards as well as various holiday fests organized at pre-school, school, sports and cultural entertainment facilities, and once again reminded about the necessity of stepping up antiterrorist security measures.

On top of that the Rais of the republic gave an errand to ensure uninterrupted operation of energy and housing and public utilities facilities, road and transport organizations, ambulance crews and other emergency services in order to secure stable life in cities and districts during holidays. In accordance with the previously communicated errand the administrations of the municipalities and city districts, enterprises and organizations should organize 24-hour duty of responsible officials during the holidays and school vacations, Rustam Minnikhanov said.
