Rais of Tatarstan visits the Kazan Zoo “The Zambezi River”

On 24 December the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov accompanied by the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin and the Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva visited the Kazan Zoo “The Zambezi River” which consists of two parts – the historical established in 1806 by Professor Karl Fux and the modern part named the Zambezi River and opened in 2019. 

Today, the zoological collection of the Zoo includes 4,683 animals of 139 species and Rustam Minnikhanov looked round the pavilions with primates, an elephant and tigers.

The Rais of the republic also had a meeting with kids, including volunteers, environmental movement leaders, representatives of youth work teams, and a young hero from Kazan, 14-year-old Nikolai, who came to the Zoo to an excursion. There were also activists of the summer season of the Kurshe (Neighbor) festival who took part in organizing events at courtyards in their residential blocks. After the excursion children went to the regional Christmas Tree Fest.
