Rustam Minnikhanov: Well-being and development of the republic and comfort of millions of its residents depend on efficient work of power industry employees

On 23 December, speaking at a ceremonial event dedicated to the Power Engineers' Day held at the Pyramid Recreation Center in Kazan, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov congratulated all employees of the branch with their professional holiday and said: “This year this holiday has a special meaning for the republic.  One hundred years ago, the first turbo-generator unit was put into operation in Kazan. This event marked a new stage in the development of the energy sector of the republic, when centralized electricity supply came to residential buildings and industrial enterprises. With deep gratitude we recollect those who created the energy shield of the country, we pay tribute to the front-line energy workers and those who forged victory in the rear and rebuilt the devastated industry in the post-war years.”

“Today, energy sector of Tatarstan is implementing smart grids and digital technologies. These are the fundamental advantages that will allow us to look to the future with confidence and make a significant contribution to energy security of Russia,” he emphasized.

The Rais of the republic also expressed his gratitude to old-stagers of the branch and wished them good health and long life.

Participants of the event were also shown a video congratulation of the Russian Minister of energy Zergey Tsivilev.

In conclusion of the ceremony Rustam Minnikhanov handed in state awards to the most outstanding CEOs and specialists of the power industry branch.

Before the ceremony, the Rais of Tatarstan was introduced to the winning project of the Student Startup programme which is an innovative project in the energy sector.
