Rustam Minnikhanov meets Russian Minister of Sport Mikhail Degtyarev in Moscow

On 15 December, speaking at his meeting with Russian Minister of Sport Mikhail Degtyarev in Moscow, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov told him about results of the development of the sphere of physical activity and sport in the republic and work of the Directorate of Sports and Social Projects in 2025. The parties of the meeting also discussed initiatives of holding prospective sport international events in the republic in 2026-2027 and the matters of the development of necessary infrastructure of the Volga Region State University of Physical Education, Sport and Tourism. 

Today 66.4% of citizens or more than 2.4 million people in Tatarstan are regularly involved in physical education and sports, Rustam Minnikhanov informed and stated that the republic continues to improve its sport infrastructure, having built 18 universal sports grounds, four indoor football pitches, a fencing center, five new table tennis centers, an ice palace and many other facilities in 2025. Next year the Football Development Center will be completed, and archery centers, a figure skating center and other facilities will be built. Moreover, every year the region fulfills large scale programmes of capital overhaul and modernization of the existing sports facilities, he said. 

“Along with the sports and tourism infrastructure created in the republic, we have all the conditions for organizing comprehensive global projects. Tatarstan is ready to be a partner in holding any events of the highest level,” the Rais of the republic said and informed about more than 70 large sports competitions the republic hosted in 2025.
