Rustam Minnikhanov takes part in a forum dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust, the International Day of Neutrality and the 30th anniversary of the permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan held in Ashgabat

On 12 December the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, who is on a working trip to Ashgabat, took part in a forum dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust, the International Day of Neutrality and the 30th anniversary of the permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan held with participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin and high level delegations from different countries of the world. 

Speaking at a plenary session, the Russian President congratulated friendly people of Turkmenistan with the landmark jubilee and emphasized that, building on its rich historical, cultural and spiritual heritage, Turkmenistan is growing dynamically, achieving progress in various sectors of the national economy and social sphere. “Your country is pursuing a balanced foreign policy, makes a substantial contribution into strengthening regional and international security and makes serious efforts to create an atmosphere of cooperation and mutual trust in world affairs,” he stated. 

Vladimir Putin specially emphasized that the strategic partnership of Russia and Turkmenistan develops successfully in the spirit of friendship and good neighbourliness. Bilateral economic ties are expanding and for ten months of 2025 the turnover has already grown by 35% which is noticeably more that during the whole previous year, he said. Russian companies are committed to implementing new investment projects in the Turkmen market, the cooperation in power economy, transport and other spheres is growing, the Russian President said. 

He also mentioned large scale multilateral economic initiatives being implemented with active participation of Russia and Turkmenistan, including those at the Caspian Sea and Central Asia and the construction of the North-South transport corridor. 

“Bilateral interregional contacts are also developing steadily, and exchanges in the cultural, humanitarian and educational spheres are growing. Suffice it to say that more than 54 thousand students from your country are studying at Russian universities,” Vladimir Putin stated and wished Turkmenistan colleagues success, having assured that Russia will provide all necessary assistance.
