Rais of Tatarstan meets Head of the Marathon Investment Group, the Chairman of the Russia –Emirates Business Council Aleksandr Vinokurov in the UAE

On 10 December during his working trip to the UAE the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with the President of the Marathon Investment Group Aleksandr Vinokurov, who is also the Chairman of the Russia –Emirates Business Council. 

The Company primarily focuses on strategic investments in retail, FMCG, infrastructure and other projects with subsequent development of the assets and is the largest shareholder of the Magnit which is the first in Russia in the number of retail spaces and is included in the top 10 largest companies in Russia. Currently is has 982 shops and one distribution center in Tatarstan and works with local suppliers. 

In June of the current year Aleksand Vinokurov became the Chairman of the Russia –Emirates Business Council and, speaking at the meeting, Rustam Minnikhanov attracted his attention to the fact that Tatarstan actively facilitates strengthening both economic and cultural bonds between Russia and Emirates. He reminded that delegations from the republic regularly take part in the Investments Forum and in the International arms exhibition and informed that the republic carries on well-established work with the leading Emirates companies such as the world known EMAAR and the Tawazun holding. 

In its turn every year a delegation from the UAE takes part in the International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, he said and added that there is a wide  range of products which can be delivered to the UAE such as helicopters, passenger ships, petrochemical goods and many others. 

Rustam Minnikhanov stated that interaction of Russia with the Islamic world opens huge opportunities and emphasized:” This could become a platform for attracting investment capital from the United Arab Emirates and other Arab countries. We can also consider cooperation of Tatarstan with the UAE in the spheres of industrial/civil electronics and microelectronics, IT and training staff for these branches.”  

“We are ready to work with the Russia-Emirates Council in terms of attracting Emirati investments into economic projects of our republic and the development of interaction in advanced technologies, construction and infrastructural projects as well as in science, education, culture, sports and tourism, “he added.
