Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Shamil Gafarov takes part in a strategic session on the establishment of an inter-university campus in the republic

On 4 December Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Shamil Gafarov, who is the Chief of Staff of the Office of the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic, took part in a strategic session on the establishment of an inter-university campus in the republic being held at the Kazan Aircraft University on 4-6 December with participation of more than 100 people and more than 40 experts in politics, economy, science, education and industry from all over Russia.

In his opening speech, Shamil Gafarov said that he is happy to be in the strong team of the republic and stated that the establishment of the campus in Tatarstan is a serious project.

“It is a step into the future, step into tomorrow,” he emphasized and stressed that it is important for the region to move into the future with the experience of leading companies and representatives of Russian entities who will be working over this topic at the Kazan Aircraft University for three coming days.

Shamil Gafarov thanked all participants and informed that the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov has already given an errand to organize an inter-departmental working group which will deal with the establishment of a multifunctional scientific and educational campus in Kazan.

In her turn the Member of the Expert Council of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on Science and Education and the participant in working groups on campuses in a number of regions of Russia Taisya Pogodaeva told about the specifics of the stages of work on the establishment of such campuses, taking into account the existing expert experience of the team she represents and which successfully accompanied three regions of Russia in defending such projects.

“Speaking about the federal project of campuses it is important to understand that the key task is not just the scientific and technological development and not just the development of the scientific system of higher education but it also goes about the future. In your case the campus is a complex project, but your republic knows how to handle complex projects, so your chances are very high,” she concluded.

The President of the Academy of Sciences of Tatarstan Rifkat Minnikhanov and the Rector of Kazan Aircraft University (KNRTU-KAI)  Kirill Okhotkin spoke on behalf of the participants in the campus establishment project. 

The programme which began in 2021 on the errand from Russian President Vladimir Putin has been implemented within the federal project “Establishment of the network of modern campuses” of the national project “The Youth and Children”.
