This is impossible without relying on fundamental education. The name of Nikolay Lobachevsky is inseparably connected with Kazan and his discoveries in the field of non-Euclidean geometry, which had a decisive influence on the development of world mathematics. This year the award goes to Sergey Ivanov for his outstanding works in fundamental and applied mathematics. “

In his turn the Rector of Kazan Federal University Lenar Safin stated that such events are the continuation of the great academic traditions. “Here in the Kazan University Nikolay Lobachevsky dedicated his life to serving science and education, he worked here as a rector and created his revolutionary geometry. We will celebrate the bicentennial of this remarkable event next year,” he said.
