Rais of Tatarstan and Governor of St Petersburg discuss development of cooperation

On 8 October at their working meeting on the sidelines of the XIV St Petersburg International Gas Forum (SPIGF) the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the Governor of St Petersburg Aleksandr Beglov discussed prospects of bilateral interaction in industry, power economy and other key spheres.

It was noted at the meeting that trade and economic bonds between the regions are rapidly developing, with St Petersburg supplying varnishes and paints, detergents and fish products to the republic and Tatarstan delivering up to 50 per cent of all trucks to St Petersburg. The cooperation in the spheres of advanced technologies and food supplies is also expanding.

Both parties agreed that implementation of joint projects in IT and tourism, exchange of experience in training specialists and attracting investments as well as the preservation of historical and cultural heritage are also promising spheres of cooperation.

Further work will be done according to the Plan of Actions of the development of cooperation between two regions in 2025-2029 signed during the SPIEF in summer this year.
