Rustam Minnikhanov: Oil and gas complex is a strategic foundation of the republic’s economy

On September 6, speaking at a solemn event in Almetyevsk, dedicated to the Days of Employees of Oil and Gas Industry, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov said that the oil and gas complex is a strategic foundation of the republic’s economy, forming one-fifth of budget revenues. Minnikhanov noted that on this day we honor geologists, drillers, operators, engineers and all those who ensure the continuous operation of the oil and gas complex. «This holiday can rightly be considered the one whose daily work creates infrastructure of oil cities and provides a comfortable life for industry workers», the Rais of the republic said.

He stated that last year Tatarstan produced 33.8 million tonnes of oil. About two-thirds of this volume is processed at two major Tatarstan facilities, oil refining companies - TANECO and TAIF-NK - with a processing depth of over 99 per cent.

Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized that the history of the oil and gas complex is not just a record of industrial successes, but also the transformation of entire regions, the birth of cities and towns, the formation of unique scientific schools and labor dynasties.

He emphasized that the modern generation worthily continues this honorable relay race, preserving traditions and introducing innovations. Large-scale import substitution projects in petrochemistry, biotechnology and energy are successfully implemented in the republic. Thus, the implementation of the project for the creation of the Green Valley Special Economic Zone, which is aimed at achieving technological leadership in biotechnology, bioeconomy and the development of advanced production in agriculture and medicine has started. Minnikhanov thanked small oil companies for their significant contribution to the sustainable socio-economic development of Tatarstan, the republic's strategic partner in the uninterrupted pumping of oil and oil products, the Transneft-Prikamye company, as well as Gazprom enterprises, which ensure reliable supply of natural gas to the largest industrial consumers, successfully implement a large-scale gasification program of great social importance and implement investment projects for the development of the natural gas network.

"Dear oil workers, gas workers, veterans, residents of the city and district! Please accept the most sincere words of gratitude for your conscientious work, dedication and contribution to the development and prosperity of Tatarstan and Russia. I wish you all good health, well-being, new professional successes and accomplishments," the Rais of Tatarstan said. Then the Rais(Head) of Tatarstan handed in a number of state awards for outstanding achievements in the development of the oil and gas chemical industry.

Under the solemn ceremony, a parade of labor collectives from various areas of the republic's oil production, service enterprises and the social sector took place.
