On 29 August the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the Russian Minister of Higher Education and Science Valery Falkov took part in a plenary session of the IV Kazan Global Youth Summit held in the new Kazan Tatar Theatre after Galiaskar Kamal and dedicated to the topic of “Education of personality in the epoch of global changes; value and career paths.”
In his speech the Rais of the republic thanked Valery Falkov, federal partners and the ICYF represented by Taha Ayhan for their high level of trust and support and said” Due to the support and patronage of the Russian Ministry of Higher Education and Science this year our Summit has gained the federal status and ministers of education, university rectors as well as scientific organizations from 45 countries are taking part in it- this is an impressive number!”
“In the epoch of quick changes it is education that defines sustainability not just of one personality but the country in the whole. We are speaking not just about gaining knowledge but also about shaping stable value guidelines and brining up responsible, patriotic and concerned citizens. Our common task is to create a system where every young person will be able to find his own path both in vocation and the development of personality. The system where traditional values such as respect to the family, labour and culture go hand in hand with modern career growth opportunities,” he said and informed that currently there are about 22 thousand students at universities of the republic.
Rustam Minnikhanov also told about the development of international Russian youth cooperation with the OIC and BRICS countries, about the work done by the Movement of the First, the supervisory Board of which is headed by Russian President Vladimir Putin and in conclusion wished all participants of the Forum fruitful work and successful implementation of joint projects.
In his turn Valery Falkov reminded that Kazan has gained rich experience in hosting international events, such as the KazanForum, the BRICS Summit and others. He also mentioned important tasks related to the shaping of personality of a modern citizen and his adaptation to new historical situation.
The Russian Minister reported that currently there are 415 thousand foreign students learning at Russian universities and invited all participants of the Kazan Summit to take part in the fifth congress of young scientists to be held in Sochi in the coming November.
In conclusion Valery Falkov stated that today many foreign students chose Russian universities for their studies and said: “They feel comfortable here. You could see this with your own eyes having come to the Summit.”
The participants of the session also listened to welcoming speeches of the President of the ICYF Taha Ayhan and the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
