Rustam Minnikhanov and Oksana Lut take part in the opening of a new dormitory of the Kazan State Agrarian University

On August 20, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and Russian Minister of Agriculture Oksana Lut accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister of the republic – Tatarstan Minister of Agriculture and Food Marat Zyabbarov and Acting rector of the university Ilshat Nuriev took part in the ceremony of opening of the new dormitory of the Kazan State Agrarian University.

The facility, which was built under the implementation of the state programme "Scientific and technological development of the Russian Federation", is designed for 634 places. Each residential block has 2-3 rooms, a bathroom and a kitchen area. The adjacent area has a sports ground and parking. Oksana Lut underlined the importance of creating modern infrastructure for students.

Minnikhanov emphasized that Kazan State Agrarian University is actively developing; there are plans to increase the number of students, including foreign ones.

Then the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan and Russian Minister of Agriculture looked around the rooms and utility rooms of the new dormitory, visited the medical unit and the gym. Kazan State Agrarian University was opened in 1922. By order of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation dated December 20, 2024, the university was reorganized by merging with the Kazan State Academy of Veterinary Medicine after Nikolay Bauman and the Tatar Institute for Retraining of Agribusiness Personnel. Taking into account the forecast for the fulfillment of the admission plan as of September 1, 2025, more than 8.5 thousand students will study at the university in higher and secondary vocational education programmes, including over 600 foreign citizens. Specialists are trained in 11 major groups of specialties. Successful research work has been established in the fields of agronomy, agricultural engineering, veterinary science, animal science, economics, forestry. There are 8 scientific schools, and the developments of researchers cover 12 branches of science.
