Rustam Minnikhanov: Harvest is an important time in life of farmers when the main burden falls on our combine and machine operators

On 19 July, speaking at a regional meeting in the Government House of the republic, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov said that harvest is an important time in life of farmers when the main burden falls on combine and machine operators and a special attention should be attached to following labour safety regulations and working conditions of farmers, ensuring their timely quality food and decent wages.

After the regional Minister of Agriculture and Food Marat Zyabbarov said that the harvest has started already in 30 regions of the republic and 340 out of 3 200 combine harvesters are working in the fields, the Rais of the republic said: ”It is important to do work in the fixed time,  following all required technologies. The republic has the needed park of harvesters and drying complexes. It is also necessary to consider using machinery and technical teams from other regions.”

He also emphasized that grain harvest should be completed in August and added: “At the same time we should not forget about future yield. We are planning to sow 500 thousand hectares, including 474 thousand hectares of grain crops.”

He gave an errand to the Ministry of Agriculture together with heads of regions to keep the situation under their control and quickly solve issues of attracting reserves for timely completion of the harvest campaign.
