On 19 July at a regional meeting in the Government House of the republic, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov gave an errand to consider the possibility of increasing the number of public Wi-Fi points in the republic.
“Unfortunately our enemies continue attempts at terrorist attacks on civilian and industrial facilities in cities and regions of the republic. In this regard, a drone hazard regime is being introduced, which provides for a reduction in the capacity of the mobile Internet network. In its turn the implementation of this solution causes a number of problems in the area of public and commercial services, where the relevant services are tied to the mobile Internet.” He said.
To ensure stable communication, Rustam Minnikhanov gave an errand to develop public Wi-Fi points, saying: “Taking into considerations errands given earlier to the Ministry of Digitalization together with the Tattelecom Company, heads of municipalities and cities and the business community should check the signal quality of the existing Wi-Fi public network and ensure stable connection even under increased load. Tatarstan residents should be informed about the updated interactive map which shows the nearest free internet points taking into consideration tourists routes, public spaces and hotels. It is necessary to analyze where else Wi-Fi points are needed.”
The Minister of Digitalization of Public Administration, Information Technologies and Communications of Tatarstan Ayrat Khayrullin informed that the measures taken previously made it possible for cash registers and instant messengers to work even when mobile Internet speed slows down. On top of that there are 1800 public Wi-Fi points in the republic “which is not enough and we will increase this number,” the Minister added.
