Rais of Tatarstan meets tennis player Veronika Kudermetova

On 17 July in the Government House of the republic the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with the Merited Master of Sports of Russia, the Grand Slam doubles major champion at the 2025 Wimbledon Championships  where she won with Elise Mertens, Veronika Kudermetova, her coach and parents. 

Speaking at the meeting, the Rais of the republic congratulated Veronika Kudermetova with the trophy and emphasized: “It is a special honor and pride for us that the champion of such level comes from Kazan. Your outstanding achievements not only glorify Russia at the world sports arena but also inspire the young generation and promote active development and popularization of tennis.”

Today, over 3.3 thousand people play tennis in Tatarstan. As many as 15 coaches train 252 people in four sports schools of Kazan, Almetyevsk, Yelabuga and Naberezhnyye Chelny. In 2025, 25 residents of the republic are members of the Russian national team.
