On 9 July the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minikhanov and the regional Minister of Digitalization of Public Administration, IT and Communications Ayrat Khayrullin took part in a solemn ceremony of launching 70 basic mobile stations in small rural settlements of the republic built by the federal programme of elimination of digital inequality.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ayrat Khayrullin told that this is the first stage of the programme implementation in the current year. It is planned to improve mobile services in 89 settlements and villages more by the end of 2025. In total in the last three years such stations began their operation in 274 rural settlements with about 40 thousand residents.
In his turn Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized that elimination of digital inequality in rural areas is one of priorities of work. “I express gratitude to federal colleagues from the Ministry of Digitalization and the Rostelekom. Provision of quality mobile communication and high speed internet to our residents and especially in rural areas is very important work. Our village dwellers will have the same opportunities as the town residents. The project is highly needed and this work should be brought to its logical completion.”
Currently the federal programme on elimination of digital inequality between rural and urban residents is being implemented in Russia. This programme presupposes installation of LTE basic stations in settlements with 100 to 500 residents.
