Rais of Tatarstan attends the Golden Mask Theatre Awards ceremony in Kazan

On 26 June the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov attended the 31-st Golden Mask Theatre Awards ceremony held in the new Tatar theatre in Kazan.

In his welcoming speech Rustam Minnikhanov said: “I am happy to welcome you at this landmark event in the new Galiaskar Kamal theatre. It is a great honor for us to host Golden Mask Theatre Awards ceremony in the capital of Tatarstan - Kazan.” 

In his turn the President of the Golden Mask Award and the festival Vladimir Mashkov reminded that it is for the first time that the main theatre award in handed in in Kazan. “It is a great honor for me to be here. I would like to express my gratitude to the leadership of the republic for having supported organization of such a large scale event. Special words of thanks to defenders of our Motherland who protect us and give an opportunity to do what we love,” he emphasized. 

The jury chose the best theatre performances of the 2023-2024 season by the results of the Golden Mask Festival held in Moscow and other cities of Russia from March to 2 June.

The Golden Mask Award and the festival are held with the support of Russian Ministry of Culture, the Presidential Fund of Cultural Initiatives, the Sber being its general partner.
