On 9 June during his working trip to Tatarstan, Russian Deputy Minister of Defense, Army General Viktor Goremykin, who is also the Chief of the Main Military-Political Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces, took part in a solemn ceremony of closing the III International Cadets Friendship Festival “In unity there is strength!” held at the Kazan Suvorov Military School of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The festival is an annual large scale event held with participation of cadets from Suvorov, Nakhimov and Cadet Schools and corps of the Russian Defense Ministry and from foreign cadet schools with the main aim being strengthening friendly relations between cadets from various regions and countries and exchange of experience and knowledge.
During eight days of the festival more than 250 participants from 31 pre-university educational institutions, including cadets, Nakhimov and Suvorov cadets, students of boarding schools of Russian Ministry of Defense, students of the National Cadet Corps of India and the Minsk Suvorov Military School of Belarus, demonstrated their creative works reflecting historical memory of generations about the feat of people in the Great Patriotic War (WWII), each team representing its region and telling about the contribution of its residents into the common victory.
As a part of the solemn event a cadet from Kazan Suvorov Military School, a student from the Moscow boarding school of Russian Ministry of Defense, and cadets from the Minsk Suvorov Military School and the National Cadet Corp of India were given an honor to unveil a memorial stela the aim of which is to become a symbol of unbreakable Cadet friendship.
In his welcoming speech Viktor Goremykin said: “It is a really large scale event of brave, energetic and talented young people who have achieved good results in studies and are taking active participation in creative projects and sport competitions, those who strive to dedicate their lives to serving the Fatherland in military or public service.”
He also expressed confidence that the festival will be remembered by everyone for its meaningful program and welcoming atmosphere and awarded participants of the event, including youngsters from Belarus and India with diplomas and memorable gifts.
The III International Cadets Friendship Festival “In unity there is strength!” finished with a gala-concert where participants demonstrated their best creative turns, including representatives of India, who also showed a video card about all days of their stay in Kazan.
