Rustam Minnikhanov takes part in the festive prayer in the restored mosque of the village of Maskara in the Kukmor district

On 6 June the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minikhanov took part in the festive prayer in the restored mosque of the village of Maskara in the Kukmor district of the republic.

Before the festive sermon the Mufti of the republic Kamil hazrat Samigullin read out congratulatory telegrammes from Russian President Vladimir Putin and Rustam Minnikhanov on the occasion of the Kurban-Bayram.

In particular in his telegramme Vladimir Putin congratulated everyone with the holiday and wrote: “This holiday, marking the end of the pilgrimage to ancient religious shrines, serves to unite people, gives believers the joy of joining the rich historical and spiritual heritage of their ancestors. Following covenants and traditions of their fathers, Muslims celebrate Eid al-Adha with good, merciful deeds, and sincerely care for those who need help and compassion. It is gratifying that Muslim organizations take active and creative part in life of the country, pay much attention to raising the growing generation, strengthening family values and implementing large-scale initiatives in the spheres of culture, education and charity work. And of course you work aimed at supporting defenders of the Fatherland and their near and dear ones deserves the deepest gratitude.” In conclusion the Russian President wished everyone good health, success and all the best.

After having read out the holy Quran, in his sermon Kamil Samigullin reminded the congregation about the history of the Eid al-Adha holiday and festive traditions and rituals. He also emphasized the importance of defending Fatherland and reminded about feats of our ancestors who defended the Motherland during the Great Patriotic War (WWII) and about our compatriots fighting at the special military operation.

After the compulsory festive prayer, Rustam Minnikhanov congratulated the congregation with the holiday and the opening of the historical mosque after its restoration, and after the ceremony he walked round the mosque which was restored on charity raised money.

The mosque in the village of Maskara is one of the oldest rural brick mosques in Tatarstan built in 1791 and closed in the 1920-es last century. Until 2022, the mosque was in a state of disrepair and today it appears in a completely restored form.
