Rustam Minnikhanov: Because of hot weather in the republic the risks of fires and accidents on water have increased

On 31 May, speaking at a regional meeting in the Government House of the republic, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov attracted attention to the fact that because of hot weather in the republic the risks of fires and accidents on water have increased.

 High level of fire danger has been declared in Tatarstan. Since the beginning of the current year there have been 1 726 house fires (which is by 14 per cent more compared to the same period last year) and 465 wild fires, killing 62 people, including 2 kids, and injuring 61 people, he said and added: “Emergencies Ministry units and heads of municipalities should ramp up work in inspecting households and forests and raising the awareness of population about fire safety requirements at home and in the open. Special attention should be paid to the condition of oven and gas equipment and electrical wiring and electrical appliances.”

The Rais of the republic also asked to help families with many children and in difficult life and socially dangerous situations with repairs of oven heating and electrical wiring and fire alarm installation.

To ensure safety especially that of children on water bodies, Rustam Minnikahnov gave an errand to take measures on timely opening of city and municipal beaches and together with the Emergencies Ministry and Internal Ministry units organize work of united mobile patrol groups.

The Rais of the republic called specialists from the State Inspection of Small Vessels for increased control over compliance with the rules for the use of small vessels on water bodies.
