Address from Rais of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov on the occasion of the Day of the Official Adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgaria

On 21 May in his address to residents and guests of the republic dedicated to the Day of the Official Adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgaria, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov congratulated everyone with this event, “which is a landmark in history of Tatarstan and the Muslim Ummah of out multinational state. “

He said: “In the distant year of 922, on the Bulgar land, the ancestors of the Tatars made their fateful choice. Over the next eleven centuries, our people have come a long way historically, preserving in their hearts the faith in the Almighty and commitment to traditional values.

For many centuries Bolgar was the fore post of the Islamic civilization, the point of attraction of famous theologists and the center of the development of vocations and trade. And, brought back to life by joint efforts of the state, religious and public organizations and all  concerned citizens, it has returned its former glory having turned into a unique spiritual and cultural-historical center.

Representatives of international and all-state events such as the KazanForum, the meeting of the Strategic Vision Group “Russia-the Islamic world” and the All-Russia forum of Tatar religious leaders, being held these days in Tatarstan, emphasized the big importance of the celebrated event. I am sure that the unity of the Muslim Ummah and of all out multinational people is the strong guarantee of stability and prosperity for Tatarstan and the entire Russia.”

In conclusion Rustam Minnikhanov wished everyone good health, happiness, and prosperity.
