Rustam Minnikhanov congratulates winners of the International children’s football tournament “The Orient Cup”

On 17 May the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, the Minister of Sports of the republic Vladimir Leonov, the Chairman of the Football Federation of Tatarstan Aleksandr Gusev, the Head of the Directorate of the Federal Tax Service for the republic Marat Safiullin and other officials took part in a ceremony of closing the International children’s football tournament “The Orient Cup”   held with participation of 10 teams from eight countries within the programme of the XVI International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”   at the Children’s recreation camp “Molodaya Gvardia”.  

 The second Orient Cup is a symbolic event strengthening a cultural dialogue between Russia and the OIC countries, and speaking to young athletes, Rustam Minnikhanov said: “It is gratifying that the interest to the tournament is growing and our friends from Islamic countries are coming here more willingly to show a beautiful play and their ball handling skills   and to receive and share their skills and knowledge in the atmosphere of friendship and concord. I am sure that during the competition boys received great pleasure from communicating with their peers from various countries as the football language is the same all over the world.” He emphasized that there are neither losers nor winners in these competition as most important in sports is to participate

Rustam Minnikhanov thanked the Rubin Football Club for having organized this sports fest at the high level and then together with Marat Safiullin handed in medals and the cup to winners of the tournament.
