Already for three years KazanForum has the federal status and is the main platform for the establishment of cooperation of Russia with the Muslim world countries. Your participation in a meeting of the Strategic Vision Group “Russia-the Islamic World” is also a great honor for us.”

He also thanked Anwar Ibrahim for the support given during the last offsite meeting of the Group organized in Kuala Lumpur in December last year.

Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized that the republic attaches great attention to the development of cooperation with Malaysia within the framework of friendly Russia-Malaysia relations and there is a growth of mutual trade turnover and the development of ties in the spheres of agriculture, oil, gas and petrochemical industries, IT technologies and in number of other branches.

He also said that international youth cooperation is also an important factor and last December a delegation from Tatarstan got acquainted with work of the Malaysia National Youth Council. As a result it is planned to organize a joint youth camp at the international youth center in Kuala Lumpur with participation of 200 teenagers from Tatarstan and Malaysia.

Having informed his interlocutor that the republic is a pilot region for implementing Islamic banking principles and about the work done in the Halal industry, the Rais of the republic concluded: “These are also promising spheres for our interaction and we are enjoying great support of our colleagues from Malaysia. We learn from you and borrow your best practices.”

In his turn Anwar Ibrahim thanked for having invited him to Tatarstan and said: ”Yesterday in my conversation with Vladimir Putin I said that I must visit Tatarstan. I and my team are ready to discuss trade and economic issues, introduction of Islamic banking and the development of Halal industry. I think that Tatarstan has a huge potential and a big number of proposals. We are ready to work and develop our ties.”
