Rais of Tatarstan: We traditionally attach big attention to development of trade, economic and investments cooperation with Turkish partners

On 14 May, speaking at his meeting with the Deputy Minister of Trade of Turkey Mahmut Gürcan, who came to Kazan to take part in the XVI International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, in the Government house of the republic, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov said that Tatarstan traditionally attaches great attention to the development of trade, economic and investments cooperation with Turkish partners.

He emphasized that the republic is an efficient link between Russia and Turkey which is one of the leading foreign partners of the republic, with Turkish companies having invested more than 2bn dollars US in to Tatarstan economy

Plants of such Turkish companies as Kastamonu Entegre, Hayat Kimya, Şişecam, Dzhoshkunoz are working successfully in the republic and Turkish investors are implementing projects in hotel business and construction.

Having informed that last year the mutual trade turnover between Tatarstan and Turkey nearly doubled and reached 5.3bn dollars US, Rustam Minnikhanov stated large prospects for the development of cooperation in such spheres as car and car components manufacture, machine tool engineering and metal processing, agribusiness and agricultural machinery manufacture, light industry, high end and IT spheres and others. 

As the Chairman of the Strategic Vision Group “Russia-the Islamic World”, which representatives of Turkey are a part of, the Rais of the republic paid special attention to the topic of cooperation in Halal industry.

In his turn Mahmut Gürcan passed warm words of greetings from the Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat and said:” The succession and productivity of our bilateral contacts is gratifying. A meeting of the Russia-Turkey working group in industry on the sidelines of the KazanForum-2025 is an example of the contribution of Tatarstan into strengthening the cooperation between our countries.” 

He stated that currently there are 70 Turkish companies working in the republic and added: “Today Tatarstan makes 10 per cent of the total amount of our trade with Russia. We will work to increase these numbers.”
