Rais of Tatarstan: Development of youth diplomacy is one of priorities of the youth policy of our republic

On 14 May, speaking at his meeting with participants of the forum of young diplomats from the OIC countries in the Government House of the republic, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized that such a Forum on the sidelines of the KazanForum has become a good tradition with more than 300 representatives from 40 countries having taken part in it for the whole history of the event. On top of that Kazan also hosted the Global Young diplomats Forum in 2022 and 2023 and last year it hosted the BRICS Summit. “You and your many colleagues helped to have these events at the highest level,” he said.

The Rais of the republic stated that the development of youth diplomacy is one of priorities of the youth policy of Tatarstan and the republic has a positive long-time experience of a dialogue with young people from Islamic countries and a cooperation with BRICS and SCO countries such as projects of the Academy of Youth Diplomacy “which attract young leaders from various countries to Tatarstan for training and the beginning of their career and scaling up joint international projects.” 

Rustam Minnikhanov also informed participants of the meeting about work done by the Academy together with the Movement of the First and the Kazan Global Youth Summit and invited young diplomats to take part in the event.

He also told about the 30th anniversary of the International Relations Department of Kazan Federal University and concluded that the current topic of the young diplomats forum, namely “The Diplomacy of the Victory” is extremely important for everyone especially in the year of celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War (WWII).

After welcoming speeches of the Head of the Office under the Department of Multilateral Humanitarian Cooperation and Cultural Relations of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Konstantin Kolpakov and the Chairperson of the Council of Young Diplomats of Russia Yekaterina Akopyan, the participants of the meeting introduced themselves  and expressed their wishes for further development and strengthening of their relations with Tatarstan. 

The IX Forum of Young diplomats of the OIC countries held on 13-17 May with participation of 50 delegates from 19 countries is aimed at the establishment of relations between participating countries and setting up trustworthy bonds with young colleagues from the OIC countries.
