On 14 May the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and honorary guests of the XVI International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum” took part in a ceremony of opening an international Halal fair Kazan Halal Market, which is a part of the Forum programme and exhibits a large range of food products, clothes, accessories, cosmetics and other goods which comply with the world Halal standards. In the current year more than 150 companies from 15 regions of Russia, manufacturers from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Turkey, India and Senegal are taking part in it and it is expected that more than 40 thousand people will visit the fair.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Rustam Minnikhanov stated that opening of the fair is the first official event of the XVI International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”. “Today Halal is the whole philosophy of life which reflects deep spiritual and cultural values and unites millions of people all over the world. Tatarstan as the leading region of Russia in the development of the Islamic economy attaches special attention to the support and promotion of Halal industry,” he emphasized.

Having thanked the Russian President and the Government for the trust and support given to the republic in organizing events and the growing number of their participants, the Rais of Tatarstan stated that in the republic alone there are more than 150 manufacturers of Halal products and about 20 of them sell their produce abroad. “We carry out systemic work in the development of cooperation with Islamic countries and organizations. Thus last year the Halal Standard Committee under the Spiritual Board of Muslims of the republic received an accreditation for certification of manufacturers for delivering produce to the Gulf countries. I am sure it will open new opportunities for the promotion of Halal products manufactured in the republic to the Oriental markets and deepen our partnership bonds,” he said.

Rustam Minnikhanov also thanked partners for their contribution into the development of the Halal sector and well-coordinated work in this sphere.

After the official ceremony the Rais of the republic and honorary guests of the KazanForum looked round the fair exhibition.
