Rais of Tatarstan: Today KFU is a real flagship of scientific and educational complex not only of the republic but also of the country

On 25 April at the Kazan Federal University the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov took part in a meeting of the University Supervisory Board with the Counselor to Russian President Igor Levitin, who is the Doctor Honoris Causa of KFU, taking part in it via videoconference.

After Russian Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Science Ayrat Gatiyatov informed the meeting about the new composition of the Supervisory Board, its members reelected Rustam Minnikhanov its Chairman who thanked the members of the Board for their confidence and stated that today KFU is a real flagship of the scientific and educational complex not only of the republic but also of the country. It is the fifth in Russia in the number of its students and the faculty and is younger only than Moscow and St Petersburg State Universities, he said.

The Rais of the republic mentioned main achievements of the university during time of work of the previous Board such as the establishment of the world level research center, the participation in the Priority-2030 grant and being a national leader in the Student’s Startup programme. “It is an important step in the development of a new generation educational institution –“University 3.0”. And KFU has everything necessary for implementation of this concept – the powerful human potential and the modern scientific, educational, innovative and social infrastructure,” he said.

“I am sure that joining our efforts and using the current results we will be able to solve the most complicated and large scale tasks. Never before has such attention been given to universities. I do hope this work will continue,” Rustam Minnikhanov added.

After the Rector of Kazan Federal University Lenar Safin reported about results of the implementation of the university development programme in 2024 and the implementation of the advanced engineering school programme, the Board also considered a number of issues related to the further development of the university and its financial and economic activity plan.
