Rais of Tatarstan: We are interested in the development of trade, economic and investments cooperation with Turkish partners

On 18 April, speaking at his meeting with a delegation from the Turkish-Russian Business Council under the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey (DEIK), the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized that the republic is interested in the development of trade, economic and investments cooperation with Turkish partners. “Russia and Turkey are strategic partners which helps us to develop projects at the regional level,” he said. 

The Rais of the republic stated that active exchange of delegations and established contacts with the leadership of Turkey facilitate the cooperation and informed that the General Consulate and the Trade Attaché are working fruitfully in Kazan and Tatarstan has its representative office in Istanbul. ”Our cities have direct flights and Turkish companies are well acquainted with our republic,” he said and added that Turkey is one the leading partners of the republic with such plants as Kastamonu Entegre, Hayat Kimya, Şişecam, Coşcunoz, Koluman carrying out active work and Turkish investors implementing projects in hospitality and construction businesses.

Rustam Minnikhanov also informed that the mutual trade turnover nearly doubled and reached 5.3bn dollars US last year and said that there are good prospects for further development of cooperation in such spheres as automotive industry and car components, machine-tool manufacture, agribusiness, light industry, IT and high end technologies and others. 

“We have been working with the DEIK for more than 15 years and I am sure our friendly bonds will continue to develop. We are sincerely happy to see you in our republic,” the Rais of the republic added and invited the DEIK to take part in the XVI International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum” to be held in Kazan on 13-18 May. 

In his turn the Chairman of Turkish-Russian Business Council under the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey (DEIK) Izzet Ekmekçibaşı thanked for the high level of the visit organization and said: “We have had a very fruitful visit. We have been to the Tatarstan Investments Development Agency, the Chamber of Commerce and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the republic and we can see large capacity for expanding our cooperation in the sphere of textiles, river transportation, food industry, agribusiness and other spheres. Thank you for the invitation to the KazanForum, we will definitely take part in it.”

Representatives of Turkish companies, who took part in the meeting, told about their work and defined the most promising spheres for further interaction.
