On 30 March the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov tooks part in a ceremonial public worship dedicated to Eid al-Fitr held by the Mufti of the republic Kamil Samigullin in the Al Madjani Mosque in Kazan.
The Eid al-Fitr is one of the main Muslim holidays in the end of the holy month of Ramadan and the Mufti of the republic read out a congratulatory telegramme from Russian President Vladimir Putin and an address from the Rais of the republic.
He also stated that this year Russia celebrates the 80 years of the Victory in the WWII and that the year 2025 has been proclaimed the Year of Defenders of the Fatherland in the country and especially emphasized the issues of courage, patriotism and protection and love of Motherland.
The Al Marjani Mosque built in 1766-1770 by permission from Katherine the Great is named after Imam Shigabutdin Marjani - one of Tatar religious scholars and enlighteners - and it is symbolic that during the worship the Mufti of the republic was holding his staff borrowed from the regional National museum.
