Rustam Minnikhanov hands in the Order “Duslyk” to Former President of Tatarstan Chess Federation Gennadiy Zakharov

On 17 March in the Government House of the republic, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minikhanov handed in the Order Duslyk (Friendship) to the Former President of Tatarstan Chess Federation Gennadiy Zakharov for his special contribution into the development and promotion of chess in the republic and long fruitful work and active public engagement. 

Gennadiy Zakharov, who celebrated his 90th birthday on 16 March, was the Minister of melioration of TASSR, the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of TASSR and starting from 1988 was the Head of the Bank Tatarstan of the Sberbank for 22 years. Currently he is a member of the Supervisory Board of the All-Russia Public Organization “the Chess Federation of Russia”.
