Rustam Minnikhanov meets representatives of the Administration of the International Big Cat Alliance

On 14 March at their meeting in the Kazan City Hall, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and representatives of the International Big Cat Alliance (BICA) discussed issues of exchanging knowledge and experience in preservation of the snow leopard population which is in danger of extinction.

At the meeting Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized that the cooperation of Tatarstan and India is developing progressively. Thus the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi took part in the BRICS Summit held in Kazan last year and there is an exchange of delegation.

“This year gives new opportunities for developing closer ties as the first international business forum “TIME: Tatarstan-India. Mutual efficiency” will be held in Kazan this autumn,” the Rais of the republic said and invited colleagues from India to visit this event.

The Director General of the International Big Cat Alliance Doctor SP Yadav told about work carried out by the Alliance which was established in April 2023 in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Tiger project.

Speaking about the snow leopard population, Satya Yadav said that it is necessary to do everything possible for repopulation and said that the colleagues are ready to share their successful experience in breeding the snow leopard in captivity.

In his turn Rustam Minnikhanov said that Tatarstan is interested in developing cooperation with scientific institutes of India and emphasized that it is important to do joint work in scientific fundamental and applied research and solve tasks of preservation, breeding  and repopulation of rare species of mammals.
