Rustam Minnikhanov at his meeting with a delegation from Republic of Altay: there are good opportunities for expanding cooperation with Tatarstan

On 14 March during an expanded meeting with a delegation of the Republic of Altay which, headed by the Chairman of the Government of the republic Andrey Turchak, came to take part in the International Conference on Preservation of the Snow Leopard held in Kazan, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov stated that the mutual trade turnover between the republics is low and it is necessary to do everything to increase its amount. He said that Tatarstan supplies medical goods, computers, cars, tyres, petrochemical produce to Altay and emphasized that there are good opportunities for expanding cooperation. He also said that Tatarstan is interested in increasing deliveries of chemical and petrochemical products, trucks and agricultural machinery, common goods and medical equipment, pharmaceuticals and other goods.

The Rais of the republic informed that the region is one of the leaders in the national ranking of the investments climate of the country and it attaches special attention to innovational development. Tatarstan Industrial and technical parks and engineering centers are one of the most efficient in Russia and they are working on the development of nano- and biotechnologies, manufacture of composites, robotics and other high tech produce.

“We are always ready to share our experience in supporting entrepreneurship and training specialists for the industry at branch resource centers,” Rustam Minnikhanov said and added that the republic also has good opportunities for setting up ties in the spheres of education, science, culture, youth policy, sports and tourism.

Having proposed to introduce some IT trading systems in Altay, the Rais of the republic invited specialists from the region to take part in the International Digital Forum Kazan Digital Week to be held in autumn as he thinks digitalization to be important for raising competitiveness.

He also invited Andrey Turchak to take part in the International economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum” to be held in Kazan in the coming May.

“We have very deep ethnic and cultural ties as the Big Altay is the ancestral homeland for many cultures including Turkic people and we will continue strengthening cooperation of our researchers of history and culture of Turkic people, work together in preservation of cultural and historical heritage and support cultural exchanges of artistic teams and museum expositions,” Rustam Minnikhanov said and concluded that actions for the establishment of the Snow Leopard Center for Preservation of Biodiversity in Mayminsk region of Altay will become an important link of cooperation.

In his turn Andrey Turchak informed that the republics have agreed to work together in the IT sphere and there is also an interest in organizing a direct flight from Kazan to the Republic of Altay.

He said that his region is also interested in studying the experience of Tatarstan in healthcare, high tech medical services and other things and in conclusion informed about the Tatar Cultural Center Karym opened in Gorno-Altaysk for organizing various meetings and events.

In his turn Rustam Minnikhanov thanked for the attention given to Tatars living in the Republic of Altay.
