On 6 March the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov held a meeting of an organizational committee of the International conference “Study and preservation of the snow leopard in the world. Joined efforts” which Kazan will host on 13-15 March of the current year.
The meeting was organized in the Government House of the republic with participation of representatives of federal power bodies, heads of Ministries and directorates of the republic, representatives of business, education and science, and speaking at it, Rustam Minnikhanov said: ”The snow leopard is the symbol of Tatarstan which personifies strength, courage, pride, the pureness of nature and human thoughts”. He emphasized that the conference is a unique platform for bringing together experts, scientists and state bodies from different countries for exchanging knowledge and experience in the preservation of the snow leopard which is in danger of extinction. “Today it is one of conditions on the way to consolidate our efforts on preservation the biodiversity of the country as well as its history and cultural heritage,” he said.
The Chairman of the joint meeting of the Interregional Association “The Center for Studies and preservation of the snow leopard “Irbis” Ali Uzdenov, who joined the meeting via videoconference, reminded about serious preparation work done with the huge support of Tatarstan and informed: “We have managed to invite all those countries where the snow leopard lives, such as China, India, Pakistan, Mongolia, Bhutan, Kazakhstan and others, to take part in the conference.”
Participants of the meeting also discussed organizational issues related to welcoming guests, preparing the conference materials and its resolution.
In conclusion Rustam Minnikhanov thanked the federal power bodies for their support in preparing the conference and said: “I am sure the event will make it possible to work out joint international standards and approaches for the snow leopard protection which will take into consideration various conditions of its habitat.”
