Rustam Minnikhanov meets President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedow and Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow

On 19 February during his working trip to Turkmenistan,  the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedow , where he thanked him for wholehearted welcome and an opportunity to discuss important issues of cooperation. He also passed words of greeting from Russian President Vladimir Putin and in his turn Serdar Berdimuhamedow passed the best regards to the Russian President and brotherly people of the friendly country.

The parties exchanged their opinions on the current situation and priorities for further development of bilateral partnership taking into consideration the current mutual interest.

Serdar Berdimuhamedow emphasized that Turkmenistan attaches great attention to the development of relations with Tatarstan as one of Russian regions and said that high level regular meetings and contacts are one of the main factors of systemic and efficient interaction.

After the President of Turkmenistan thanked the Rais of the republic for his active participation in the international forum dedicated to the 300th birthday of the great Turkmen poet Mahtumkuli Fragi held in October last year, Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized that there is a special strive of Turkmens for preservation of national traditions and indigenous culture.

Both parties agreed that cooperation in humanitarian sphere, including education, arts and culture is also an important part of Turkmenistan-Tatarstan bonds.

The Turkmen President reminded that on an initiative of the country the year of 2025 has been announced as The International Year of Peace and Trust and invited Rustam Minnikhanov to take part in a forum dedicated to the permanent neutral status of Turkmenistan to be held on 12 December 2025.

Later the same day at their meeting the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow welcomed each other and the Rais of the republic passed words of greeting from Russian President Vladimir Putin.

It was said that every year on 18 February Turkmenistan celebrates the Day of Diplomatic workers of the country and Rustam Minnikhanov congratulated the leadership of the country with this event having stated that it is a great honour for him to visit Turkmenistan during this professional holiday.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow emphasized that he highly appreciates the development of relations with Tatarstan as one of Russian regions and said that high level regular meetings and contacts are a direct tool for constructive bilateral cooperation.

He stated that due to much work in economic, political and other spheres done lately; the bilateral relations have reached the new level.

“Continuously developing Turkmen-Tatar dialogue we are also taking efficient measures in various spheres, which brings good results,” Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow said and also invited Rustam Minnikhanov to take part in a coming forum dedicated to the permanent neutral status of Turkmenistan.
