Rustam Minnikhanov: Tatarstan is the only pilot region where citizens can take part in magistrate session via web-conference

On 19 February the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov took part in a meeting of judges of the republic dedicated to results of their work in 2024 held at the Soviet District Court of Kazan.

After the Chairman of the Supreme Court of the republic Azat Gilmutdinov, the Head of the Directorate of Judicial department for Tatarstan Zyavdat Salikhov and the Deputy Chairman of the Sixth General Court of Cassation, the Chairman of the Judicial Chamber on Administrative Cases Radik Gabdullin reported about the number of cases considered by general jurisdiction courts of the republic in 2024, Rustam Minnikhanov stated that today’s results testify to the high importance and relevance of the judicial system as an important tool of protection citizen’s rights and interests.

He especially mentioned protection of rights guaranteed by the state to participants of the special military operation (SMO) and their families and said. “Timely provision of the standing measures of their support is the priority of our work. A formal approach is unacceptable here.”

The Rais of the republic also reminded that work with immigrants is very important as well. “We cannot but be worried with the increasing number of migration law violation cases which creates an additional load on the state system including the pool of judges. The state bodies need to ramp up the use of preventive measures of such law violations in the future,” he said.

Rustam Minnikhanov also spoke about decreasing the magistrates load due to a federal law to be passed soon, the implementation of advanced IT into work of courts and informed that an agreement signed at the International forum Kazan Digital Week envisages Tatarstan as the only pilot region for testing an opportunity of citizens taking part in magistrate sessions via web-conference.

In conclusion the Rais of the republic thanked the participants of the meeting for high professionalism and dedication and handed in Tatarstan state awards to the most outstanding employees of the judicial system.
