On 13 February the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov took part in a resulting collegium of the regional Ministry of Agriculture and Food, which was dedicated to results of the agribusiness work in 2024 and tasks for 2025 and was held at the International Exhibition Center Kazan Expo.
Before the meeting he looked round a specialized exhibition of agribusiness achievements Kazan Agro 2025.
After the report of the regional Minister of Agriculture and Food Marat Zyabbarov who informed that the republic has become one of three leaders in agricultural production in 2024, Rustam Minnikhanov shared his good impressions of the work done in organization of the Kazan Agro Exhibition and reminded about sessions and round tables to be held during it.
“Today Tatarstan is successfully fulfilling the task set forth by Russian President Vladimir Putin in ensuring food independence of the country. Thus in the last five years milk production grew by 20 per cent, the investments into agribusiness exceeded 165bn rubles, more than 64 thousand areas per beast were created and 16 500 pieces of machinery were procured in the republic,” he said and emphasized that it means huge work of people working in agribusiness.
He also reminded that good results of the branch were achieved due to the attention and timely support of Russian President Vladinir Putin, the Government and the Ministry of Agriculture of the country. In its turn the republic also takes into consideration financial support to farmers in its budget, Rustam Minnikhanov added.
In his speech the Rais of the republic stated the current key tasks of preparation for the spring field work, ensuring subsidized fuel for farmers and timely procurement of mineral fertilizers
Speaking about cattle breeding, Rustam Minnikhanov said that there is a decrease of the number of cattle and milk cows not only in big but also at personal farms and stated: “To solve this situation we have decided to increase the subsidies on milking herd management and cattle purchase to private famers as well as the construction of mini-farms.”
He also attracted attention of participants of the meeting to the produce falsification and first of all the dairy products and said: “ It is necessary to ramp up the control of the illegal circulation of such products especially in socially important organizations such as kindergartens, schools, hospitals and children’s summer camps. We should give a timely response and take adequate measures.”
In conclusion, the Rais of Tatarstan thanked all agricultural workers and handed in the state awards of the republic to agricultural workers, while Russian Deputy Minister of Agriculture Maksim Borovoy, who also took part in the meeting, handed in awards of the Russian Federation to the most outstanding farmers.
