Rustam Minnikhanov meets Secretary General of the OIC Hissein Brahim Taha in Jeddah

On 12 February, speaking at his meeting with the Secretary General of the OIC Hissein Brahim Taha in Jeddah, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov said: “You are well-known in Russia as an authoritative representative of the influential Organization uniting Muslim countries and with which we closely interact,” and once again congratulated his interlocutor with the 55th anniversary of the Organization which took place in September last year. 

He emphasized that Tatarstan is proud of its contribution into the development of relations of Russia with the OIC and said that he recollects his participation in a meeting of the Organization in Gambia last year with warm feelings. This time Rustam Minnikhanov had an opportunity to meet leaders of a number of countries-members of the OIC and discuss further cooperation with them. 

Rustam Minnikhanov informed that the trade turnover of the republic with the OIC countries increased by 83 per cent and reached 5.7bn dollars US in 2023.  He also listed the countries, such as Egypt, Malaysia, the UAE, Tunisia and others, trading with the republic. 

The Rais of the republic told in details about important topics raised at the KazanForum and invited the OIC Secretary General to attend the event. 

“It is a great honor to meet you. We highly appreciate the work of the Strategic Vision Group “Russia-the Islamic World” and count on expanding the cooperation of the Group headed by you and the OIC,” the Secretary General emphasized.
