Rustam Minnikhanov takes part in XIII Conference of Minister of Culture of the Islamic world in Jeddah

On 12 February the Rais of Tatarstan is taking part in the XIII Conference of Minister sof Culture of the Islamic world in Jeddah which opened with reading of the Holy Koran. 

The conference is held under auspices of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) and one of the key topics is promotion of the correct image of Islam and Islamic culture, facilitation of a dialogue between civilizations, cultures and religions and spreading values of culture of justice and peace, principles of human rights and freedoms according to how they are understood by Islam. 

The ISESCO unites 54 out of 57 countries-members of the OIC, of which Russia is an observer since 2007.

Every year the conference chooses the cultural capital of the Islamic world and Samarkand has been chosen for the current year, while Kazan has submitted its application for 2026.
