On 25 January, speaking at a regional meeting held in the Government House of the republic, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov said that the day of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the fascist blockade is an important event for all Russian citizens.
“On the coming Monday our country will celebrate the Day of Military Honour of Russia – the 8tst anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the fascist blockade which lasted for 872 days and became one of the most heroic pages of the Great Patriotic War (WWII),” he said and informed about various events dedicated to this date to be held in the republic.
Rustam Minnikhanov also said that thousands of residents of Leningrad were evacuated to various regions of Russia including Tatarstan and currently there are more than 70 war veterans who were awarded “The resident of Blocaded Leningrad” badge” and currently live in the republic. “Our task is to envelope them with care and proper attention”, he said and in conclusion wished all veterans good health, peace of mind, well-being and happiness.
