On 20 January, speaking at a ceremony of opening the new building of the Tatar State Academic Theatre after Galiasgar Kamal, the Chairman of the Russian Union of Theatre Workers Vladimir Mashkov informed that this year a ceremony of awarding the Russian National Award “Golden Mask” will be held in this new building in Kazan.
He said that today’s event is important not only for Tatarstan but for the whole of Russia. “The theatre philosophy and idea is that it is absolutely transparent and open to the world. It is a crystal of talent which opens unthinkable opportunities.”
The Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, who also took part in the ceremony, said that today’s event is an important achievement for the whole country and thanked organizers of the international competition who chose the project of the new building of the theatre. “I think it was the right decision to choose this appearance of the building,” he said and added: “There is no doubt that this is not just a theatre but also a space with huge capabilities. It is a gem, a diamond for our capital. And of course we must use it so that it becomes the center not only for the republic but for our whole country.”
In the end of the ceremony the People’s Artist of Russia and the People’s Artist of Tatarstan Ravil Sharafeev handed in a symbolic key from the building to the new generation.
