Rustam Minnikhanov: Conferment of title “The City of Labour Merit” to Zelenodolsk is a landmark event

On 18 January, speaking at a regular Saturday meeting in the Government House of the republic, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov said that the conferment of title “The City of Labour Merit” to Zelenodolsk is a landmark event especially in the Year of Defenders of the Fatherland.

The title was conferred to Zelenodolsk and other seven Russian cities by the decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin on 15 January 2025 announced at a meeting of Russian Organizational Committee Pobeda (Victory), and Rustam Minnikhanov said: “The labour feat of Zelenodolsk has got a high appreciation.” He also proposed to the Administration of the Zelenodosk region and the Government of the republic to consider the erection of memorial stele in the city dedicated to this event.

“The contribution of Zelenodolsk into the common victory of our country is priceless and we must always remember this,” he said.

Rustam Minnikhanov also reminded that Vladimir Putin supported the initiative of the Russian Defense Ministry to confer the title of the Honorary Citizen to all participants of the WWII and having informed that there are 150 such participants living in the republic today. he gave an errand to heads of municipalities and cities to provide passing the decision of conferring this title at the nearest sessions of power bodies.

The Rais of the republic also said that the meeting of the Organizational Committee Pobeda also took a decision to allocate one time subsidies in the amount of 80 thousand rubles to war verbenas and their widows, the underage prisoners of concentration camps and 55 thousand to home front workers and some other categories of veterans.

Rustam Minnikhanov gave an errand to prepare and have a meeting of the regional organizational committee and together with local self-government bodies to hold all events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory at the highest level.
