On 17 December during his working trip to Azerbaijan the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov visited the Free Economic Zone (FEZ) Alat which was established by a decree of the President in 2020 and is located close to the Baku international trade sea port. It is supposed that such location of the port will ramp up the capacity of the free economic zone in the section of the trans-Caspian route and the “North-South” international transport corridor.
The Minister of Economics of Azerbaijan Mikayil Chingiz oghlu Jabbarov and the Board Chairman of the FEZ accompanied the Rais of the republic during his tour round the zone and told him about its key advantages and showed him a project of construction of the international cargo airport to be commissioned in two years. Currently the area of the future airport already has a logistics center with the capacity of 500 thousand tonnes of cargo transported by highways.
Rustam Minnikhanov also discussed the experience of the free zone in training specialists for enterprises as it is planned to open special educational organizations in the area in the nearest future.
In conclusion of his visit of the FEZ, Rustam Minnikhanov handed in three Sollers Atlant buses manufactured by the Sollers Alabuga Company in the Free Economic Zone of Alabuga in Tatarstan to be used at freed territories.
The Azeri Minister expressed his gratitude and stated that the leadership of the republic sees this as one of the symbols of friendship between two peoples.
