Rustam Minnikhanov arrives on a working trip to Malaysia

On 10 December the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov arrived on a working trip to Malaysia, where on 11 December in Kuala-Lumpur he will hold a field meeting of the Strategic Vision Group “Russia-the Islamic world” the main topic of which is “The Interaction of Russia and the Islamic world in the era of the forming multi-polarity”.

The meeting will gather about 200 people, including not only members of the Group but also leaders of Muslim communities of the BRICS countries, Asian-Pacific region and the topic experts.

Earlier during his visit to Malaysia in August of the current year Rustam Minnikhanov proposed the Prime Minister of the country to have the field meeting of the Group in Kuala Lumpur and his initiative was supported by the leadership of the country. 

Holding the meeting in Malaysia is especially symbolic as it was here that 20 years ago at a meeting of the OIC the Russian President  made a statement on Russia's accession to the Organization of Islamic conference (which was later renamed into the Organization of Islamic Cooperation) as an observer. 

During his trip to Kuala Lumpur Rustam Minnikhanov is planning to have a number of meetings.
