On 13 November in the Government House of the republic the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with a delegation from Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China, which came on a working trip to Kazan headed by the CCP committee deputy secretary of the Region, Chairman of the Xinjiang industrial-construction corps He Zhongyou, who is also the Chairman of the Board of the China Xinjian Group.
Welcoming his guests, Rustam Minnikhanov expressed his gratitude for attention attached to regions of Russia and for the fact that Russia-China relations are developing actively and have reached an unprecedented level. “The trade turnover between our countries is growing. Last year it made 228bn dollars US, and our leaders have set forth a task to increase its amount by 2030, to deepen ties in a number of strategic spheres, first of all in finances, industry and technology as well as transport and logistics”, he said.
The Rais of the republic reminded about the 16th BRICS Summit held recently in Kazan and informed: “We had an honor to host the Leader of China Xi Jinping. We will be proud of it.” He also stated that Tatarstan delegations regularly visit China and said: “Last year I was in Shanghai and Anhui Province and visited the high tech exposition in Shenzhen in November and the China-Eurasia EXPO in Ürümqi in April of the current year”.
Rustam Minnihanov also reminded that Tatarstan has signed cooperation agreements with eight provinces of China and municipalities of the republic also have agreements with Chinese municipalities. He emphasized that the General consulate of China in Kazan provides a serious support to mutual relations and concluded: “It is not just trade and economic relations but also investments from China that play a substantial role in our projects.”
