Rustam Minnikhanov meets President of the Russian Tennis Federation Shamil Tarpischev

On 6 November at their meeting in the Government House of the republic, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the President of the Russian Tennis Federation Shamil Tarpischev discussed issues of the development of tennis in the republic and improvement of the tennis sports infrastructure. 

Today more than 3 300 people do tennis in the republic with four tennis departments opened in sports schools in Kazan, Almetyevsk, Yelabuga and Naberezhnyye Chelny. As many as 65 athletes have athletic titles and 21 of them are members of the Russia tennis team from Tatarstan.

Every year the republic holds about 40 official tennis tournaments and, according to nine months of 2024, for the first time in the history of Tatarstan tennis, the republic ranks the third after Moscow and Moscow region in the number of international tournaments won outside Russia.
