On October 30, in her address on the occasion of the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repressions, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Leyla Fazleeva said:
“Dear Tatarstan residents! October 30 is the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repressions. Names and fates of 54,727 repressed persons and their families immortalized in 28 volumes of the Book of Memory of the Victims of Political Repressions of Tatarstan.
On this day, we remember the people who died and suffered during political repressions, who endured the trials of cold, hunger, and grueling labor in camps. The actions and events held on this day are important and significant for each of us, they teach the younger generation of Tatarstan residents to empathize with the history of the country, and are aimed at preserving the historical truth, events, facts, and returning names.
I wish everyone who has experienced unfair accusations, hardships, and deprivations of social upheavals, health and long life.”
