Rustam Minnikhanov meets Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow in Turkmenistan

On 10 October the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, who came on a working trip to Turkmenistan, had a meeting with the National Leader of Turkmen people, the Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow. 

Speaking at the meeting, Rustam Minnikhanov thanked for the invitation to take part in the International forum and stated that the work of Makhtumkuli Fragi is an inseparable part of the world culture. He informed that lately works of the poet are under intensive studies in the republic and the Department of Manuscripts of the Kazan Federal University keeps originals of his handwritten works. 

“On top of cultural ties our people have strong trade and economic relations. I am thankful for your personal attention to the development of cooperation with our republic. Due to the support from the President of our country Vladimir Putin, the regions carry our active work with friendly countries in strengthening economic connections,” he emphasized. 

The Rais of Tatarstan also informed that according to results of the last year the trade turnover between the republic and Turkmenistan grew by 13 per cent and made 52m dollars US. The parties of the meeting stated that there is a necessity to give greater dynamics in such spheres as gas transportation, automobile and ship building, energetics and agribusiness. 

In his turn Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow emphasized the importance of cooperation at the regional level and said: “You are at home here.”

Later the same day Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow handed in a jubilee medal “To 300th Birthday of Makhtumkuli Fragi” to the President of Tatarstan Academy of Sciences Rifkat Minnikhanov for his contribution into bringing closer cultures and making them richer, for strengthening friendship, brotherhood and mutually beneficial cooperation of people.
